Tim McGraw Headlines the Coming Home Concert!
Joins Charlie Chase, Benny Wilson,
and Kim and Amanda Williams
In Rogersville Saturday November 4th 2006
The Hawkins County chapter of the American Cancer Society is proud to
announce that country music’s most popular performer will headline the 4th
annual Coming Home concert, which will also be a celebration of the 40th
anniversary in broadcasting, of it’s host, Rogersville’s own Charlie Chase.
This will be a unique opportunity to enjoy Tim McGraw and the Dancehall
Doctors in an up close and personal acoustic setting at the Rogersville
Middle School auditorium. Selling over 33 million albums and placing 26
singles at #1, has made Tim McGraw one of the world’s hottest draws and
ticket movers. Tim and his wife Faith Hill’s Soul2Soul II, a 73 show tour,
played 55 cities this year taking in $89 million, making it the highest
grossing country music tour of all time and is presently 2006’s top-grossing
North American tour in any musical genre.
His standing among the entertainment public is perhaps best exemplified by
his receiving of the 2006 People’s Choice Award for the Top Male Performer .
Tim has established a noteworthy presence as an actor with his well received
debut in the movie Friday Night Lights. He now stars in the Twentieth
Century Fox feature film Flicka, which will debut in theaters on Oct.20th.
The film is preceded by the release of the movie’s soundtrack, available to
the public on Oct. 17th. The soundtrack includes the film’s leading track,
McGraw’s current single, “My Little Girl.” Since Tim first came on to the
county music scene, he and Charlie Chase have worked together numerous times
on radio and television and have developed a long standing friendship that
brings them together in Rogersville for a common cause, to raise money for
the fight against cancer.
Charlie Chase’s broadcasting career began 40 years ago at WRGS radio, while
attending Rogersville High School . Later, Charlie worked on air jobs while
he served as program and music director in Kingsport, Knoxville and later in
Nashville. Charlie landed at the world famous WSM radio, replacing Pat
Sajak. Charlie has been involved in many projects such as, This Week in
County Music, Funny Business, Crook and Chase and the CMA nominated Crook
and Chase Countdown Radio show currently airing nationwide. Charlie married
his childhood sweetheart Karen in 1971, and they have two children, Rachael
and David. Throughout all of his success, Charlie has remained close to his
family and friends in Rogersville, TN.
Kim Williams, also from Rogersville will be a part of the Coming Home
concert for the 4th straight year. He is a nationally acclaimed songwriter
and singer and remains close to all his family and friends in the area as
well. Kim has written many number 1 singles, and has won a CMA award for
“Three Wooden Crosses.” Kim and Garth Brooks have co-written such
hit-singles as: “Papa Loves Mama,” “It’s’ Midnight Cinderella” and “Ain’t
Goin Down Til the Sun Comes Up.”
Kim and his wife Phyllis, have a daughter, Amanda who will also join us for
the Coming Home Concert. Amanda has proven that songwriting is in her blood
as evidenced by her co-writing the hit-song “Beer Run,” which was a Garth
Brooks and George Jones hit. She is a gifted writer in both county music and
rock, and she will again lend us her beautiful voice for the Coming Home
Concert .
Benny Wilson will be bringing his energy to the Coming home Concert once
again this year. Benny is best described as an “entertainer.” He has broken
into the top 40 twice with “Acres of Diamonds” and “Fools Moon.” Benny
brings a level of showmanship that makes him a crowd favorite anywhere he
goes, especially here in Rogersville.
All of these special entertainers will be coming together for the 2006
Coming Home Concert to help raise money for the Hawkins County Relay For
Life. They have committed themselves to make a difference in the fight
against cancer, and are lending their talents and their love to the families
and friends who have been touched by cancer.
The American Cancer Society is the nationwide community based volunteer
health organization that is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major
health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering
from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.

Flicka premiers in TN posted by MzT

Tim McGraw treats kids and friends to 'Flicka' and candy
By BEVERLY KEEL
Tim McGraw wouldn't have done it any other way.
Instead of having a stuffy, red carpet-lined premiere full of TV cameras to celebrate next week's release of his new family movie, "Flicka," Tim held a casual get-together Tuesday at the Belcourt Theatre to give his friends a sneak preview.
And as always with Tim, the kids came first. Tim and wife Faith Hill played host for the children from their daughters' school at an afternoon screening, complete with all the candy and popcorn everyone could eat. It was the first time his daughters had seen the finished movie. "They loved it — well, my daughter said I was mean, but I don't think I was mean in it. They don't like strict dads; it reminds them of me," he says with a laugh.
He wanted to do a family movie "after 'Friday Night Lights,' because the kids couldn't see that," he says of his role as a scary, angry father. "I had to do something they could see."
After Tim and Faith took the girls home, Tim returned to Belcourt to serve as host to some 300 music industry types. (Faith slipped in later). He gave away more food and copies of the "Flicka" soundtrack, the first release from his label, StyleSonic Records.
He did all he could to keep the focus off himself. In fact, Tim sat in the back of the theater during a pre-movie music set featuring his 17-year-old niece, Catherine Raney; as well as Holly Williams, the Warren Brothers and Tim's band, the Dancehall Doctors, all of whom have songs on the soundtrack. Also performing was Tom Douglas, who co-wrote "My Little Girl," which Tim sang on the soundtrack. Tom said onstage that Tim gave him a confidence boost during their writing process when he said, "Let's win an Oscar together." (No pressure there.)
Tim recently completed a part in the Jamie Foxx movie "The Kingdom," which will be released in May. "I'm not in it a lot, but there are some really good scenes with Jamie. It's a very serious movie."
Tim coldly turns a deaf ear to my need to see him in a romantic comedy. "I don't think so," he says. "I like doing really heavy stuff. I'm ready to go back and do a real heavy movie." Not even one romantic comedy? "I don't think I could pull that off. I'm not funny." Yeah, but he's got the romantic part down pat.

Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame posted by MzT
SUPERSTAR TIM McGRAW
TO RECEIVE STAR ON THE
HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME
Tuesday, October 17th at 11:30 AM
Hollywood, CA, Date—Superstar Tim McGraw will receive a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at Hollywood & Highland on Tuesday, October 17th at 11:30 AM. McGraw joins an incomparable list of legendary entertainers who have received this honor, which reflects his extraordinary contributions to music even as his career continues to progress into new and exciting territory. McGraw’s Walk of Fame ceremony, hosted by Johnny Grant and presented by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, will feature McGraw’s co-star and friend Billy Bob Thornton, with whom he co-starred in Friday Night Lights, as guest speaker. The star installation (at 6901 Hollywood Blvd.) coincides with the release of his latest film, Flicka, to be released on October 20th by Fox 2000. The film co-stars Alison Lohman, who is also expected to attend the ceremony.
Tim McGraw has quickly become one of the most respected and recognizable entertainers of his time, seamlessly shifting from music to film to television with equal grace and talent. His imprint on the music industry includes over 33 million albums, 4 million singles and 26 #1 singles, and sold-out concert tours across the country and around the world. A tribute to his widespread appeal, McGraw has been featured in 3 highly successful NBC concert specials, and overall his music has garnered three Grammys, eleven Academy of Country Music Awards, nine Country Music Association Awards, eight American Music Awards, three People’s Choice Awards, and much more.
For film, McGraw received critical acclaim for his performance alongside Thornton in the well-received football drama Friday Night Lights. Next, he intends to expand on the acclaim of that acting debut with his first leading role opposite Alison Lohman and Maria Bello in the Fox 2000 picture Flicka, a retelling of Mary O’Hara’s beloved novel My Friend Flicka, to be released October 20, 2006. For the film, McGraw serves as executive producer of the film’s soundtrack and co-wrote the end title song, “My Little Girl.”
McGraw’s Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame caps off another incredible year in the career of this multimedia superstar. Along with the upcoming release of Flicka and the release of his 9th consecutive #1 record (the greatest hits collection Tim McGraw Reflected: Hits Vol 2), McGraw is celebrating his record-breaking tour Soul II Soul 2006, a collaboration with his wife and country sensation Faith Hill, which drew critical accolades and broke box office records across America.
